Did you know there are 43 million Spanish speakers in the U.S. and 12 million BILINGUAL speakers?!
Spanish immersion program is a teaching strategy to help children learn Spanish while also building upon academic skills in core curricular areas. The Spanish language is spoken exclusively in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The child’s native language is not used to help them learn Spanish, but rather the children are “immersed” in Spanish and absorb the language through a multi-sensorial experience such as hand gestures and demonstrations. The time between birth to six years old is known as a sensitive period for language in a child. This is the period that a child has the greatest ability to learn other languages, which far exceeds that of adults.
Learning a new language at an early age is invaluable and fun! Not only would your child have the ability to communicate with 43 million other Americans, but they would also be able to converse with 580 million Spanish speakers worldwide!
How awesome is that?!
There is no better time to start than now because children’s learning experience is often unaccompanied by the fear of making mistakes unlike when they’re older.
Additionally, learning a new language positively impacts a child’s cognitive development, encourages problem-solving skills, and enhances their future academic success!
